Tallinn's status as European City of Culture for 2011 is likely to lead to an increase in interest in the Estonian capital and could result in higher demand for
foreign exchange rates for property developers.
Maret Poldveer, marketing co-ordinator at the Tallinn City Tourist Office and Convention Bureau, says it has gone to some lengths to prepare for the honour.
She notes the infrastructure to cope with visitors is in place and a programme of events for the year is almost complete.
With a trip to Tallinn potentially a popular choice in 2011, property developers could look into the latest
foreign exchange rates and provide accommodation for those who wish to stay on a more permanent basis.
Commenting on the city's highlights, Ms Poldveer says cosy cafes, romantic streets and the towers within the Old Town are all to be enjoyed.
The current capitals of culture are Istanbul, Essen and Pecs, while previous winners include Liverpool and Stockholm.
